A Business Continuity Plan vs. A Disaster Recovery Plan, Telecom Insurance Group
Now more than ever, organizations cannot underestimate the importance of business continuity planning. Every organization can be affected by a disruption of business operations. Downtime from the disruption - whether it's hours, days or longer - can be costly. That's why it's critical for organizations to make business continuity planning a key management and operations strategy. Central to business continuity planning is preparedness - knowing what your next steps will be if your business is disrupted or a disaster occurs.

Phantom Traffic and Access Avoidance – Who is ripping you off?  Vantage Point Solutions
What is your causing your company’s demand and revenue to drop? Certainly some of the loss can be explained by legitimate competition (e.g. wireless substitution), but have you ever wondered how much of your demand loss is associated with Phantom Traffic and other access avoidance schemes?

You don’t have to put up with it. Something can be done. The agenda for this class will focus on defining and understanding Phantom Traffic and access avoidance, determining the scope of your company’s loss and methods/regulatory efforts to reduce or eliminate this costly problem.

Marketing 2015: Reaching Consumers of the Future, Quintrex
Reaching young, tech-savvy consumers has become a recent challenge for telecommunications companies and one that you should not ignore. Having grown up with direct, targeted communication that reaches them on a personal level, this developing consumer market includes Generations Y & Z, and will rival the Baby Boomers in size and buying power. Marketing to this group requires fresh ideas and technology-driven tactics, like personalized marketing campaigns, individualized on-line promotions, as well as creating a presence for your company where consumers gather. By analyzing and implementing ways to reach your entire consumer market, companies can take control of their marketing in the most effective and profitable way possible.

Ethernet Panel, Vantage Point Solutions, Nortel Networks, ECI
As the traditional landline network converges towards an all-IP network, it is critical for companies to have the ability to transport the multimedia service offerings for delivery to their end subscribers. This panel discussion will review the technology choices available for delivering Ethernet, as well as advantages of Ethernet transport technologies over other legacy systems.  In addition, this session will highlight the new services and revenue streams that are enabled with the implementation of Ethernet transport technologies.

Attack of the Zombie Hackers: Security in the Broadband World, Calix
BREAKOUT SESSION

The global reach of the Internet and the ability of subscribers to find any endpoint have made it the most dynamic communication vehicle the world has even known. However, this same technology has also created opportunities for global reaching hackers, assembling virtual armies hell-bent on wreaking havoc within your network and terrorizing your subscribers. Calix will explore common network security threats and how they are implemented, as well as the security feature and limitations of current Broadband access equipment and aggregation switch-routers. Prevention techniques for dealing with these storms will be discussed, including the embedding of security functions in the access network to stop hacker attacks and unicast packet storms at their point of origin.

Fiber to the Farm: Next Generation Solutions for Rural America, OFS Optics
BREAKOUT SESSION

Once a telecom provider moves outside the cities and suburbs, any wireline solution becomes an expensive proposition. However, the distance capabilities of fiber and rising cost of metallic media have made FTTH an attractive option for rural
America. In this presentation, we examine how the cost structure of a rural deployment impacts architecture selection, and how the requirement to support multiple generations of technology impacts component selection. The rise of FTTH as a preferred solution for rural and small town applications also coincides with the rise of IPTV and the development of new standards to support 10

Gigabit EPON and GPON solutions. In addition to impacting the last-mile, these technologies may have a profound effect on backbone requirements to connect central office and hub sites in outlying areas. This presentation will briefly review the optical parameters associated with backbone construction and the possible impact of increasing bandwidth requirements.

Directional Boring, Turnkey
BREAKOUT SESSION

Understand how buried cable can economically be placed underground without disrupting traffic or cutting street.

Cost Effective IPTV Services for the Independent Telephone Company, Power & Telephone Supply BREAKOUT SESSION
iPTV has been a frustrating & expensive undertaking for early adopters of this technology over the past several years.  Today, however, performance has stabilized & economics have become more practical.  This presentation will cover end to end considerations in designing & deploying an IPTV network.

Innovations in Power: Fuel Cells, Lithium Batteries and True 20 Year VRLA Batteries, C&D Technologies
BREAKOUT SESSION

This session will discuss: Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology for Telecommunications Power, Lithium Batteries for Telecommunications Power, True 20 year VRLA Battery Technology, Staying current with emerging technologies and innovations for telecommunications backup power systems, Learning how hydrogen fuel cells and methanol reformers work, Marketing to subscribers that their telecommunications company is using or considering “green” and “renewable” energy sources and the Latest VRLA battery technology breakthroughs

Fiber Testing 101, Resource Communications
BREAKOUT SESSION

The presentation states with the basics of Optical Transmission and why we test.  It covers Power Meter (PM) and Light Source (LS), Optical Return Loss (ORL), and puts the biggest emphasis on Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing.  It also covers testing for the most frequent cause of optical transmission problems today, dirt and macro bending.
